Morning. Does anyone know what the current guidelines are on giving babies cow's milk on cereal?I'm using aptamil on cereal for my 8mth old as I thought cow's milk was only ok to use in cooking. But some of my friends are using it on cereal, they say it's fine to.It would be cheaper and easier but I want to be sure and I can't seem to find a proper answer on the web.Any ideas?

Hi LeonieThanks for your post. You've had loads of advice from other parents which I hope you have found helpful. It is fine to give cow's milk on her cereal now, but I would wait until 12 months before giving her cow's milk as a drink.Maybe you could start to introduce a cup to her now and then at 1 year could start to offer cow's milk at all drink times instead? Some people find that their child may have slightly runnier poos when they change over to cow's milk but this is quite unusual and settles down quite quickly.
Her milk requirement is likely to drop by a year to about 400ml.You may find this page helpfulFeeding Baby: Bottle Feeding - NetmumsDo come back to us if you have any more questionsRachel
